Customers Code Names: Trudy and DocTrudy told me this story:
When I met Doc back in the late sixties he had a beautiful full Irish Setter named Heather and a little half-beagle named Springtime.
When Heather got sick and the vets couldn't help her within our meager budget we knew she had to be put to sleep. So Doc scrounged up all his money, something like $32, and bought fillet Mignon steaks and cooked them for Heather. Then he took her to the park and let her chase butterflies. That seemed like the right way for her to go.
Doc and Trudy are putting Daisy [adorably pictured here] to sleep this week. I sat on Trudy and Doc's bedroom floor and gave Daisy a good-bye massage Monday morning. Cried and shared stories with Trudy. I've washed Daisy every two weeks since December of 2003. I've always tried to help her through the bath experience by visualizing her running happily in a field. Never thought of adding butterflies. But I think I know what her doggie heaven will look like. And Heather will be there waiting for her.
